Ms. Sharon Streeter

Principal
Shiloh Elementary
Dallas County

“ Failure is not an option for any student” is my personal motto because I believe all students can learn. It is my belief as an educational leader to set standards for improvement as well as reinforce my efforts in the area of educational research and philosophy. All educational leaders must be willing to collaborate about educational perceptions and exchange ideas in order to negotiate an improvement in school academic development. As an educational leader, my classroom experience afforded me the opportunity to work with a wide variety of students, and to effectively assess, develop, and nurture their varied learning styles. I know that these same skills are instrumental in assessing and nurturing teachers’ instructional strategies, attitudes, and achievements.  This theory combined with my commitment to the guidance and instruction of children, underscores my confidence as a competent instructional leader.

Currently, I serve as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Educational Leadership, Policy and Technology Department at the University of Alabama and an Educational Consultant for the Dallas County School System.

Prior to my assignment as Graduate Research Assistant and Educational Consultant, I served as Principal at Shiloh Elementary School in Dallas County School System for two years.  Shiloh Elementary School has received Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for three consecutive years and is classified as a Honor Roll School.

I served as an assistant principal in Montgomery Public School for four years. As an assistant principal, I served as an instructional leader by implementing and monitoring a school-wide writing plan, Accelerated Math Program, science fair, Math Day, and Direct Instruction Reading Program and coordinated a workshop for consultants to present and share instructional strategies with teachers. I served as the SACS chairperson, and a member of the School Improvement Committee. I also served as summer principal at a junior high school in Montgomery Public Schools.

I am cognizant of the development and implementation of a school improvement plan because of the extensive professional development opportunities. As an Instructional leader, I know that I am equipped for the challenges which are ahead of me in the area of Education Administration.
