Ms. Sarah Mitchell

Sarah Mitchell has served as a veteran teacher, assistant principal, and currently has been serving for the past six years as the principal of Douglas High School which is located in Douglas, Al.  Ms. Mitchell has been honored as Alabama Teacher of the Year for District 8 and Marshall County Teacher of the Year.  She has taught in grades fourth through twelfth with her last teaching assignment as an AP English teacher.

She received her undergraduate degree in English and history from Jacksonville State University.  In addition, she has a master’s degree in English from the University of Alabama and in Educational Administration from Jacksonville State University.

She has been married for twenty-eight years to retired teacher and head football coach Rex Mitchell.  They have four children Cliff, Trevor, Clay, and Rylee whose ages range from twenty-five to eighteen.  She is an active participant in her church where she serves on the Pastor Parrish Relations Committee and sings soprano in the church choir and in the ensemble.
