Dr. Bruton’s first teaching job was as a preschool teacher in Germany followed by positions as Preschool director, teacher of grades K,2,5 and 6, At-risk teacher and principal of two elementary schools. Currently she is principal of Roger B. Chaffee
Elementary School in Huntsville City Schools. Her school has been an Alabama Reading Initative School since 2001.
Dr. Bruton received her Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University and her Ed.S from the University of Alabama, both in Educational Leadership. She has a B.A. and M. A. in Elementary Education.
Dr.Bruton has been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma since 1986 and served a term as president of her chapter. She served on the AAMU/UAH Regional Inservice Board and was a member of the Huntsville City Schools Staff Development Committee. Cecilia was a presenter at the National Elementary Principal’s Association Conference in San Diego. She has served on several SACS committees as the chair.
Cecilia is married to Roy Bruton, who is retired from the Army and is currently a middle school teacher. They have three grown daughters, Tamara, Michele, and Jeanine. They love to travel and have visited thirteen countries and more than half of the United States.
