Mr. Charles Lee Willis, Jr.

Principal Smith Middle School

Charles Lee Willis, Jr. has been serving Birmingham City Schools in various capacitiessince 1990. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from The University of West Alabama (formerlyLivingston) in 1990. He received his Masters in Physical Education, his Class A Certification in School Administration, and his Ed.S. in School Administration from the University of Montevallo. He started his career with the Birmingham City Schools as a physical education instructor, offensive coordinator, and head track coach for West End High School. From 1996 to 1998, he served as Assistant Principal and Acting Principal of Huffman High School. In 1998, Mr. Willis became the principal of Curry Elementary School. He then moved to the Central Office and served in the capacity of Secondary Education Human Resources Coordinator until 2001. He is married to the former Nakketah King of Daphne, Alabama and has two children: Nakesha Sade’ and Tiffany Nicole.
