Teresa Lloyd attended Jacksonville StateUniversity and earned a Bachelors and Master Degree in Education. She earned her Educational Specialist Degree in 1996 and a Ph.D. at the University of Alabama in 1999. She began her professional career as a teacher at Saks Middle School and later became the assistant principal at Saks Middle and at Wellborn Elementary School.

She is the principal at DeArmanville School(K-9). DeArmanville School received the Alabama Safe Schools Initiative Award of Excellence in 2003 and 2004. In 2004, the school was recognized as a National Finalistfor the 21^st Century School of Distinction Award.
