Dr. Ed Nichols

Assistant Superintendent Decatur City Board of Education

Ed Nichols holds a Doctorate and Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration from the University of Alabama.  He also holds a Bachelor and Masters degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Nichols’s duties cover both the instructional and personnel aspects of the school system. He has been a member of the Decatur City School System since 1988. During his years in Decatur,he has served as a teacher and principal at Austin High School. In 2000, the Optimist Club of Decatur recognized him as the Decatur City School “Administrator of the Year.”

Dr. Nichols is very active in many community service groups such as the Rotary Club of Decatur and the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves as the music director for the Central United Methodist Church of Decatur. He is married to Missey Nichols and they have one daughter, Meredith.
