David Stiles’s hometown is McCaysville, Georgia (near the Tennessee state line). He has a B.A. in History and an M.A. in History from Georgia State University. He holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia. He has taught high school history in Gwinnett County, Georgia for 5 years. He has served as an assistant principal for 6 years in Gwinnett County schools, principal for 2years at Shiloh High School in Gwinnett,and most recently as the principal at Mountain Brook High School. Presently, he serves as the President of the Alabama School Communicators Association. Dr. Stiles also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ofAlabama and the Alabama Center for Law & Civic Education.
He married Laura Phillips, his high school sweetheart, and they have two children, Craig (19) and Spencer (15).
